Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
Ewers is the plan now, and the Cowboys grade out a D.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Sonny Styles slide 156 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

The whole projection now runs through Quinn Ewers; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In No. 2 they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick16 Rnd1 Quinn Ewers
In pick No. 16 they get the face of the franchise, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick47 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 47th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick78 Rnd3 Emery Jones Jr.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 78, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117 Rnd4 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at Round 4, Pick 16 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock in the 153rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick169 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
Taking Deontae Lawson in No. 169 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170 Rnd5 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at slot 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ashton Gillotte
They will replay Ashton Gillotte at pick 171 for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick189 Rnd6 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick208 Rnd6 Sonny Styles
They robbed the room for Sonny Styles here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick232 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver in No. 232 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
