Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent the Round 7 slot on Xzavier Henderson, a name the board had a full 48 spots lower.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. With interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. Higgins at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
