You can draft well and still miss the point. The Panthers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most.

The cost of the Johnson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The back end got a real overhaul.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
