Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Seahawks to a D-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Seahawks, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D-.

Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They banked enough surplus on Hunter to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga in No. 16 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
By-the-book stuff, Gabriel Murphy at Round 3, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick160 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
A tidy little value on Cedric Johnson in the 160th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
No edge and no loss on Curtis Jacobs in slot 176; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at pick 197 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jontrey Hunter
Nice patience on Jontrey Hunter, who had no business lasting to the 230th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick236 Rnd7 Myles Cole
They went early on Myles Cole in pick No. 236, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jordan Johnson
Jordan Johnson in slot 240 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
