Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B-.

The Bills put a flag in the ground for Kitan Crawford, 66 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Bills indulged a want in Alexander while a need in edge rusher, quarterback and other spots stayed open. On value alone, Pierce makes the weekend a net positive.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at the 56th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick62 Rnd2 Zy Alexander
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Zy Alexander at cornerback with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick109 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in pick 109 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Circle this one: Hollin Pierce at slot 132 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick169 Rnd5 Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford at No. 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick170 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jack Kiser. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173 Rnd5 James Burnip
Nice patience on James Burnip, who had no business lasting to pick 173. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick177 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No drama and no debate, Dont'e Thornton Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
They paid a round early for Hayden Conner in slot 206, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
