Alexander should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Darius Alexander got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at the 113th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Parrish has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In pick 11 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Fair-plus on Tyler Booker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 75 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jacob Parrish
A big swing on Jacob Parrish at No. 100, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick113 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at slot 138 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
They let Kurtis Rourke come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 160th overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick227 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Corey Brooks. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Maxen Hook
They jumped the gun on Maxen Hook, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick252 Rnd7 Brant Kuithe
They paid up for Brant Kuithe at the Round 7 slot when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
