FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Winston Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Jauan Jennings pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyleik Williams. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick44
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in Round 2, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
They paid sticker price for Carson Schwesinger in pick 72, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kevin Winston Jr. this early at pick No. 75. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick148
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at slot 148 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204
Rnd6
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 204th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
A reasonable price with a little left over, Robert Longerbeam in the 233rd overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick240
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
No drama and no debate, Bilhal Kone went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
