FutureB-
The Steelers let Ransom fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. You build a draft on nights like this. Lathan Ransom had no business being available in the Round 5 slot, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 26 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick83
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins slid further than he should have, and No. 83 is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Jack Bech at slot 87 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick90
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Alexander at the 90th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick123
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
They let Zy Alexander come to them and pounced at the 123rd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127
Rnd4
Will Howard
Steal is underselling it; Will Howard at pick 127 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick156
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
No drama and no debate, Dont'e Thornton Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Nelson at slot 190 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick229
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
A quiet steal in the 229th pick: Kyle Monangai for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
