Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Steelers.

The Steelers put a flag in the ground for Tonka Hemingway, 33 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Moore pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at Round 1, Pick 21 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
They paid a round early for Jalen Milroe in pick No. 83, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jordan James
They did well to land Jordan James in pick 123, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick156 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
The board had Malachi Moore higher than No. 156, and the safety fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick185 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They took Dont'e Thornton Jr. at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at the 229th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
