Overall B

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Mbow: B.

The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Marcus Mbow, the No. 51 name on the board, sitting there at pick 83 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Shough pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson slipping to slot 63 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick83 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
Steal is underselling it; Marcus Mbow at the 83rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in pick No. 123 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick133 Rnd4 Nohl Williams
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Nohl Williams. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
A conviction pick on Ty Robinson at the 156th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick185 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
By-the-book stuff, JJ Pegues at No. 185 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick229 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
They took Isaac TeSlaa at par in pick 229, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
