Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA- FutureA
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B.

Nobody had Dominic Zvada this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 56 spots to get him at the 232nd pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The Little Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end and interior defensive lineman. Allar at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Robert Spillane gives the group a proven body among the projects.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the 24th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick32 Rnd1 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a double-digit-sack hope, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick96 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb is a better player than No. 96 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick113 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
A surprising call. With tight end and interior defensive lineman still to address, they spent pick 113 on Earl Little Jr., a safety they were not short of.
Pick132 Rnd4 Chris Johnson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris Johnson at pick No. 132 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick153 Rnd5 CJ Baxter
They did well to land CJ Baxter in the 153rd pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aaron Anderson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick178 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at the 178th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in the 179th overall pick, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick217 Rnd7 Amare Campbell
They reached into another round for Amare Campbell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
They talked themselves into Dominic Zvada at pick 232, and the board did not agree. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
