Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bills. The Bills bet big and early on Shemar Turner, 22 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Winston Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Shavon Revel Jr.
In the 30th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in pick No. 56 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Shemar Turner
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shemar Turner well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
A slide stopped in the 109th overall pick, with Kevin Winston Jr. worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa at slot 132 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick170
Rnd5
Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald in slot 170 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick173
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at the 173rd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick177
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
They paid sticker price for JJ Pegues in the 177th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
Good price on Caleb Rogers in pick 206, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
