Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Patriots walked right past. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Burden III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Powell-Ryland lower, and that gap is the story.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the 4th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
Value with a capital V on Luther Burden III in slot 38, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at Round 3, Pick 5 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 77 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
They read the board right and Darius Alexander was the payoff at No. 106. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A conviction pick on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 144th pick that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick217 Rnd7 Joshua Gray
Nice patience on Joshua Gray, who had no business lasting to pick 217. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Hancock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
A premium they did not need to pay, Thomas Fidone II a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
