More right than wrong for the Buccaneers, and a B- to prove it. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Buccaneers never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Every board in the league had Hairston lower, and that gap is the story. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In No. 19 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick53
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at pick No. 53 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jared Ivey in the 84th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
