Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesC FutureA+
The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Odunze: B.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Rome Odunze, the 35th overall pick, roughly 22 picks past where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Brade pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots. Dorlus has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Rome Odunze
Taking Rome Odunze in the 35th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick37 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
A reach on Calen Bullock in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick46 Rnd2 Brandon Dorlus
They paid a round early for Brandon Dorlus in pick No. 46, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermaine Burton in pick 74. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick107 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
No edge and no loss on Blake Fisher in No. 107; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108 Rnd4 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in Round 4, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Beau Brade adds a safety and leaves interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
No drama and no debate, Cedric Gray went about where he belonged in slot 126. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick144 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Antwaun Powell-Ryland. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Khyree Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Khyree Jackson at pick No. 147 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick150 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at the 150th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at slot 185 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick188 Rnd6 Darius Robinson
They went early on Darius Robinson in the 188th pick, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick231 Rnd7 Reuben Fatheree II
Reuben Fatheree II in pick 231 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
