Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cowboys: B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Raheim Sanders in the Round 5 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They went early on Alfred Collins in slot 44, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at No. 51, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at the 76th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick85 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They did well to land Andrew Mukuba in pick No. 85, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick149 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
They left a pile of value on the table to take Raheim Sanders this early at the Round 5 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
They paid up for Jack Nelson at pick 174 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
A reach on Nazir Stackhouse in No. 204; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
They will replay Jarquez Hunter at the 211th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jermari Harris. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 239 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They took Jamon Dumas-Johnson at par in the 247th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
