You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chargers took Michael Barrett at the 131st overall pick, roughly 87 spots before his name belonged. Call it a C- and check back in two years.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Quantity was the play, for better or worse.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
