The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

The Burke pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left interior defensive lineman open, and the grade is the bill.
