Phillips should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B+.

The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Andru Phillips, the No. 170 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cost of the Bortolini reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
