Draft Grade — Browns

FutureF
Nobody dealt better than the Browns this weekend: B-. The Browns looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Shilo Sanders at the 255th overall pick regardless, 32 picks early.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick55
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 55th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Jackson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick79
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
A straight-up fair deal on Mason Taylor at pick 79, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter in Round 3, Pick 22 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick94
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
They let Andrew Mukuba come to them and pounced at No. 94. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
A tidy little value on Tez Johnson in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
A premium they did not need to pay, Denzel Burke a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick153
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts in pick No. 153 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in No. 166 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick179
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 6, Pick 3 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick181
Rnd6
Addison West
They talked themselves into Addison West at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick193
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
They went early on Joshua Gray in the 193rd overall pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
A real head-scratcher, Shilo Sanders in slot 255 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256
Rnd7
Xzavier Henderson
Value said wait; Xzavier Henderson in the 256th pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
