Draft Grade — Lions
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Lions. There is a lot to like until you notice cornerback is still a hole. The Lions never got to the one that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Tuimoloau pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
JT Tuimoloau
In the 28th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nic Scourton in Round 2, Pick 28. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
