Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-. The Seahawks did not so much draft Mason Taylor as overpay for him, 28 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
In pick 18 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Mason Taylor
A big swing on Mason Taylor at pick No. 50, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick52
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 52nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
