FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Steelers this weekend: A-. The Steelers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Princewill Umanmielen at Round 5, Pick 38 regardless, 39 picks early.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Getting Washington II where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
In the end it comes back to Kamari Ramsey, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick46
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
They took Kamari Ramsey at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick73
Rnd3
Drayk Bowen
Fair-plus on Drayk Bowen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick98
Rnd3
Kaytron Allen
By-the-book stuff, Kaytron Allen at Round 3, Pick 34 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jaden Greathouse
No drama and no debate, Jaden Greathouse went about where he belonged in No. 114. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick153
Rnd5
John Mateer
They read the board right and John Mateer was the payoff at the 153rd pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
A quiet steal in slot 166: Le'Veon Moss for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176
Rnd5
Princewill Umanmielen
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Princewill Umanmielen well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick192
Rnd6
Bear Alexander
A wild overpay on Bear Alexander in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211
Rnd6
Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams at the 211th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick227
Rnd7
Elliot Washington II
Nice patience on Elliot Washington II, who had no business lasting to pick No. 227. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
