FutureA+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Bears. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Bears took Thor Griffith at the 240th overall pick, roughly 75 spots before his name belonged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Warren at that price is a win they earned.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 26th overall pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick39
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They paid a round early for TreVeyon Henderson in the 39th pick, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Landon Jackson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
A real head-scratcher, Donovan Jackson in Round 2, Pick 15 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
A premium they did not need to pay, Jared Wilson a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick120
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They left a pile of value on the table to take Logan Brown this early at the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
They reached into another round for Jack Kiser, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204
Rnd6
Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford at Round 6, Pick 28 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick233
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick240
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at pick No. 240 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
