Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Ward is the Browns' new face under center. Grade: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Evans. Martin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
Cam Ward in the 2nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in Round 2, Pick 1 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Nice patience on TreVeyon Henderson, who had no business lasting to slot 67. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick94 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
Good price on Cam Skattebo in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick104 Rnd4 Xavier Restrepo
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Restrepo. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179 Rnd6 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at the 179th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in pick 192 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed slid further than he should have, and pick No. 200 is lovely value for the safety. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
A conviction pick on Howard Cross III at slot 216 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255 Rnd7 Nick Martin
Nick Martin at pick No. 255 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
