Trevguest DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall

NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Mendoza is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Jets' quarterback, full stop. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The cost of the Kearney reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Daniels pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In the 2nd pick they get a long-term answer under center. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the 16th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Avieon Terrell
Avieon Terrell slipping to pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick44
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
They let Anthony Hill Jr. come to them and pounced at slot 44. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick103
Rnd4
Mikail Kamara
The board had cheaper options than Mikail Kamara at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175
Rnd5
LJ Martin
The board had LJ Martin higher than Round 5, Pick 37, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol in No. 178 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick194
Rnd6
Trinidad Chambliss
Good price on Trinidad Chambliss in pick No. 194, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick205
Rnd6
CJ Daniels
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, CJ Daniels in slot 205, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick212
Rnd6
Bud Clark
They took Bud Clark at par in pick 212, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick218
Rnd7
Roderick Kearney
They talked themselves into Roderick Kearney at Round 7, Pick 2, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
