FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Marshall Jr.: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Jason Marshall Jr. at slot 242 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They will need McLaughlin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Shemar Stewart
In the 14th pick they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in the 39th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in pick No. 41 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick72
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick149
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach Round 5, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick197
Rnd6
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in slot 197 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick234
Rnd7
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 234 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick235
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Luke Lachey in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jason Marshall Jr.
They will replay Jason Marshall Jr. at the 242nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
