The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Jaylen Reed slide 61 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
