The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Blue: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jaydon Blue got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at pick 217. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. They are betting Burnip proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A quiet steal in pick No. 44: Malaki Starks for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick76 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
A clean, defensible pick in the 76th pick with a little surplus value in Elic Ayomanor. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149 Rnd5 James Burnip
James Burnip at the 149th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick174 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
No edge and no loss on Willie Lampkin in Round 5, Pick 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
They paid a round early for Nazir Stackhouse in No. 204, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick211 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
They paid sticker price for Luke Lachey in slot 211, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at pick 217 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jason Marshall Jr.
They will replay Jason Marshall Jr. at pick 239 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick247 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Taking Robert Longerbeam in the 247th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
