You can hear the double-takes from here. The Raiders took Monroe Freeling at Round 3, Pick 3, roughly 42 spots before his name belonged. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Reese at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
