meh DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

The Bears land in the muddy middle: C+. Nobody else had Thor Griffith anywhere near the 240th overall pick. The Bears did, by 75 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
No edge and no loss on Tyler Warren in No. 10; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick39
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 39 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick41
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
They reached a country mile for Donovan Jackson at the 41st pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
David Walker
They left a pile of value on the table to take David Walker this early at the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
They went early on Ty Robinson in pick No. 148, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick233
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
A conviction pick on Kitan Crawford at Round 7, Pick 17 that the board grades a round light. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick240
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 24 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
