Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The Steelers went off the board in a big way for Nathaniel Watson, 34 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, safety and other spots went begging.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

If Jackson Powers-Johnson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
A reach for Xavier Worthy in pick No. 51; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A surprising call. With quarterback, safety and other spots still to address, they spent slot 84 on Dominick Puni, an offensive lineman they were not short of.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jamari Thrash
A reach on Jamari Thrash in the 120th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick178 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson in the 178th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick195 Rnd6 Logan Lee
Logan Lee at Round 6, Pick 20 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
