Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesD- FutureB-
The Steelers left with their quarterback, and a C+ to match.

The Steelers spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

That Wilson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Anderson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Goncalves pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 20 they get the arm they will build around at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52 Rnd2 Kalen King
They let Kalen King come to them and pounced at the 52nd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick84 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
They went early on Blake Fisher in Round 3, Pick 20, and the value did not follow. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick119 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khyree Jackson at the Round 4 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in No. 120, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A premium they did not need to pay, Cedric Gray a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick122 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A curious use of slot 122. Edge rusher, running back and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Matt Goncalves did not.
Pick198 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at the 198th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick241 Rnd7 Evan Anderson
A big swing on Evan Anderson at pick 241, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
