Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureF
The Bears found their guy under center in Daniels: F.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent Round 7, Pick 11 on Kendall Milton, a name most had 178 spots down the list. A F, plain and simple.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Guyton. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 1 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick13 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 13 with a little surplus value in Kool-Aid McKinstry. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick63 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
They will replay Adonai Mitchell at the 63rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Donovan Edwards
They jumped the gun on Donovan Edwards, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in the 105th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick142 Rnd5 Khyree Jackson
A quiet steal in slot 142: Khyree Jackson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick183 Rnd6 Mike Sainristil
They barely believed it either: Mike Sainristil still on the board at Round 6, Pick 8. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick226 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
Miyan Williams in the 226th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick231 Rnd7 Kendall Milton
Kendall Milton at the 231st overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
A big swing on Steele Chambers at pick 247, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
