ZBC DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B to prove it. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at offensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
On value alone, Banks makes the weekend a net positive. They are betting Trigg proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In pick 9 they get a three-down runner at fair value.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
They let Caleb Banks come to them and pounced at the 40th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick74
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
No edge and no loss on Domonique Orange in pick No. 74; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
They liked Michael Trigg enough to skip the value, taking him in the 109th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick146
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
A straight-up fair deal on Davison Igbinosun at slot 146, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick176
Rnd5
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at Round 5, Pick 38 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
