ZachVT4 DRAFTING FOR THEEagles
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Eagles: B-. The Alijah Huzzie selection is the head-turner. The Eagles reached 35 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Allen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on specialist is the choice that costs them.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the 32nd pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick64
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at pick 64 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They took Charles Grant at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129
Rnd4
Andres Borregales
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Andres Borregales in slot 129 leaves edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick162
Rnd5
LeQuint Allen
Somehow LeQuint Allen was still sitting there in pick No. 162, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie at No. 166 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in Round 5, Pick 30 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
