Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Bears, and a B- to prove it.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent Round 7, Pick 25 on Riley Nowakowski, a name the board had a full 32 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That Caldwell pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 57th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick63 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
A slide stopped in No. 63, with Lee Hunter worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sam Hecht in Round 3, Pick 25. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A clean, defensible pick in pick 125 with a little surplus value in Bryce Lance. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick129 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Nothing to complain about; Davison Igbinosun went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at Round 5, Pick 31 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jeff Caldwell in slot 239, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick241 Rnd7 Riley Nowakowski
Riley Nowakowski in pick No. 241 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
