The tape said wait; the Bears did not. Jaleel Skinner went at the 248th pick, a good 126 picks before the board was ready.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Bears indulged a want in Taaffe while a need in interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots stayed open. They banked enough surplus on Thieneman to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
