Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Byron Murphy II. He came off 41 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
Landing Sheppard that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They will answer for taking TE-EDGE early while running back, quarterback and other spots went begging.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Denzel Burke went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land Blake Fisher in Round 3, Pick 32, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Byron Murphy II at No. 116 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went TE-EDGE with Cade Stover while clear needs at running back, quarterback and other spots sat open.
The board had cheaper options than Steve Linton at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Will Sheppard at Round 7, Pick 11 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
LaDarius Henderson at No. 237 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
