The Giants ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Arnold pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Terrion Arnold slipping to pick No. 37 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy little value on Patrick Paul in slot 60, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in pick 69, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Audric Estime in No. 105 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Cooper Beebe at the 107th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in the 142nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Sam Hartman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
