The Giants won the night they stopped Abrams-Draine from sliding. Grade: B.

The Giants did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kris Abrams-Draine fell into the 144th pick.

For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Murphy proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 11
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 26
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Troy Franklin in pick No. 39. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 46
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in slot 47; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 85
A reach for Gabriel Murphy in No. 70; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 95
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Davis at the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 96
Nice patience on Audric Estime, who had no business lasting to pick 107. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 122
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in the 143rd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.8 · Pick 144 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 119
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 144th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 190
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in the 185th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
