Somebody in pick 76 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Broncos sat still while Bo Nix, the No. 22 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Robinson proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
They robbed the room for Bo Nix here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Darius Robinson at pick 113 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Ainias Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Dallin Holker in the 149th overall pick, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jase McClellan at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Sheridan Jones at No. 240 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
