Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bears.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bears took Jaishawn Barham a full 25 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The Wetjen pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The dealing was even money, start to finish.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
Nothing to complain about; Sonny Styles went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick57 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
The board had A.J. Haulcy higher than the 57th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick60 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Good price on Jake Slaughter in No. 60, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
A tidy little value on Jadarian Price in pick No. 74, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jaishawn Barham
They talked themselves into Jaishawn Barham at the 94th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick 129 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick239 Rnd7 Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241 Rnd7 Luke Altmyer
By-the-book stuff, Luke Altmyer at slot 241 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
