FutureB-
The Cowboys fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Norfleet has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Reese pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
In pick 15 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick30
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In No. 30 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jonah Coleman
Good price on Jonah Coleman in the 62nd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
A conviction pick on Malachi Fields at pick No. 80 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick114
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
A reach for DJ McKinney in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at Round 5, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick156
Rnd5
Isaac Smith
They took Isaac Smith at par in slot 156, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick176
Rnd5
Evan Stewart
The board had cheaper options than Evan Stewart at the 176th overall pick, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick219
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the Round 7 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Value said wait; Brett Norfleet in the 231st pick says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
