Draft Grade — Commanders

Good, not great, for the Commanders: B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Commanders started one anyway for Taylen Green, 38 picks ahead of schedule.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, McNeil-Warren at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 7 they get a bell-cow for the offense. A real need, handled.
Pick71
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Taking Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in Round 3, Pick 7 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick147
Rnd5
Taylen Green
A wild overpay on Taylen Green in the 147th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
Nice patience on Ted Hurst, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick198
Rnd6
Jeff Caldwell
A real head-scratcher, Jeff Caldwell in the 198th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at pick 223 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
