Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureC+
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bears.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Bears left running back untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Gill-Howard proves the room right and everyone else wrong. However the rest shakes out, Harvey at that price is a win they earned.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Zion Young
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick57 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 2, Pick 25 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Good price on Jake Slaughter in pick No. 59, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick60 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
A straight-up fair deal on Derrick Moore at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
A tidy bit of business in the 89th pick, where Jacob Rodriguez graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard in the 129th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick141 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at slot 141 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick239 Rnd7 DJ Harvey
A quiet steal in pick 239: DJ Harvey for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Trebor Pena
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Trebor Pena. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
