Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureA+
The Browns won the night they stopped Hurst from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Ted Hurst tumbling to the Browns in pick 206 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Koziol reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In slot 11 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 24 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick41 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They did well to land Dillon Thieneman in No. 41, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70 Rnd3 Elijah Sarratt
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Sarratt at pick 70, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Fair-plus on Tacario Davis, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick146 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
The board had cheaper options than Tanner Koziol at the 146th overall pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
Good price on DeMonte Capehart in the 149th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206 Rnd6 Ted Hurst
They robbed the room for Ted Hurst here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
Taking Jeff Caldwell in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick248 Rnd7 TJ Hall
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 248 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
