Draft Grade — Raiders

Green should have been long gone. The Raiders pounced, and earned a B. Call it larceny. Cayden Green sat on the board until No. 220, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick No. 7 they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Spencer Fano
The board fumbled Spencer Fano all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71
Rnd3
CJ Allen
CJ Allen at slot 71 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick107
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
They will replay Daylen Everette at pick 107 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Bud Clark
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bud Clark at the 135th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jermod McCoy
You do not let a cornerback like Jermod McCoy reach No. 146 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick185
Rnd6
Zane Durant
Taking Zane Durant in the 185th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick220
Rnd7
Cayden Green
They barely believed it either: Cayden Green still on the board at Round 7, Pick 4. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
