Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bears would have aced it. Warren Brinson at the Round 5 slot is 148 spots clear of where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
On value alone, Moore makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Kelvin Banks Jr. at pick No. 10 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick39
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
They paid sticker price for Landon Jackson in No. 39, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick41
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton is a better player than pick 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
No edge and no loss on Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148
Rnd5
Warren Brinson
Warren Brinson at the 148th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick233
Rnd7
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick240
Rnd7
Joe Huber
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Huber in pick No. 240, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
