Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
The 49ers let Lew fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Thirty-one other rooms let Connor Lew slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at pick No. 92. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In No. 27 they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick58
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe in pick No. 58 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick92
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in pick 92, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Good price on Keylan Rutledge in slot 127, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
A clean, defensible pick in the 133rd pick with a little surplus value in CJ Daniels. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
Fair-plus on DeMonte Capehart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171
Rnd5
Eric McAlister
They took Eric McAlister at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
